TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno stated that investors from the Middle East continue to show strong interest in investing in the country, particularly in the new capital Nusantara or IKN.
“I have just returned from a working visit to the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. There we talked with investors and some of them are interested in IKN,” Sandiaga said in a discussion held virtually dubbed the Weekly Brief with Sandiaga on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
He recalled the meeting with P.N.C Menon of Sobha Group, who expressed their interest in funding real estate projects in Indonesia, particularly IKN.
“During the visit, we met several businessmen and entrepreneurs. I had meetings with Dr. Adil Alzarooni, Mr. Abdullah Lahej of Ayana Holding, Awad bin Mohammad, and the team of Sobha Realty who showed their strong desire to invest in Indonesia,” he said.
Therefore, Sandiaga emphasized that for Indonesia to benefit from these collaborations, it must move quickly, move together, and decisively.
“I see that Indonesia is still a magnet for investors because we have a good economic matrix and as we also see, in terms of [business] convenience provided by the government,” he added.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also offers a golden visa program and several special economic zones that aim to accommodate investment interests in the tourism and creative economy sectors.
“At one of the meetings, a billionaire from Kerela, India, who is an Omani national and runs a business in Dubai, expressed interest in developing real estate projects in Indonesia, especially in IKN,” Sandiaga Uno said.
