KRL Jabodetabek Serves 14.8mn Passengers During Christmas, New Year Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 18-day period of Christmas and New Year holidays has ended. According to KAI Commuter, the total of passengers who boarded the commuter line connecting Greater Jakarta, or KRL Jabodetabek, during the year-end holidays reached 14,889,135 people.
"Throughout the holiday (Dec. 23-26, and 30-31, as well as Jan. 1, 6-7) the volume of passengers is 6,570,539 or 786,679 each day on average," said Vice President Corporate Secretary KAI Commuter Anne Purba in a statement quoted on Monday.
The highest number of passengers was recorded on Dec. 30, 2023, with 859,564 people. Meanwhile, the holidays also noted a record of transits in Manggarai Station, with 230,876 people on Jan. 1, 2024. On the same day, Tanah Abang Station recorded over 155,003 passengers.
Bogor Station was the most favorable destination using KRL Jabodetabek, with 380,620 passengers heading to the station. Followed by Tanah Abang Station and Jakarta Kota Station with 298,835 and 351,078 passengers respectively.
"Meanwhile, the biggest number of departures from Jan. 1 to 7, 2024, is recorded in Bogor Station with 326,387 people and Tanah Abang Station with 253,306 passengers," Anne said.
For Soekarno-Hatta Commuter Line services, the year-end holidays recorded over 106,250 passengers with 6,250 on average each day. The highest volume recorded was on Friday, Dec. 22. 2023, with 9,157 people.
For the Merak commuter line during the same period, there were 248,319 passengers throughout the year-end holidays with 15,718 on average each day. "The highest volume was recorded on Jan.1 with 16,544 passengers," Anne added.
KAI Commuter urged its customers to pay close attention to the departing schedules of the train by accessing C-Access or visiting its social media at @commuterline.
