TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian airline Lion Air introduces a new direct route from Pekanbaru to Surabaya.
Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Danang Mandala Prihantoro explained that the flight from Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport in Pekanbaru to Juanda International Airport in Surabaya will begin on January 12, 2024.
"With flight frequency of one a day or seven times a week," he said on Monday.
Danang said that the new route will be beneficial for regular people, business people, and tourists.
"With [Pekanbaru-Surabaya] direct flight, there is no need for a layover in Jakarta or other cities, saving time and money,"' Danang added. Thus, this flight provides a more comfortable and flexible trip for its passengers.
Danang added that this route will create better connectivity between Pekanbaru to Pontianak, Sampit, Pangkalan Bun, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Berau, Samarinda, Tarakan, Bali, Lombok, Labuan Bajo, Kupang, Makassar, Manado, Kendari, Ambon, Ternate, and other cities through Surabaya.
"For businesspeople, the route will increase efficiency to operate business, participate in meetings, and form business relations in both cities," he said,
The flight route will also boost local economic growth, Danang went on, since the demand for local transport, accommodation, and other business sectors will hike along with the rise of mobilization.
"This flight attracts tourists searching for tourist destinations with a uniqueness to each region, which will increase the number of tourists in Pekanbaru and Surabaya, and in turn boost the tourism industry," he concluded.
