TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Solo Mayor and Vice Presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka fulfilled the summon of General Elections Supervisory Agency or Bawaslu of Central Jakarta today, Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He was absent from his duties in the Solo City Hall today to clarify the alleged campaign violation over milk distribution during the car-free day event in Jakarta.
The head of the protocol and communication department of the Solo city government Herwin Tri Nugroho Adi confirmed that Gibran has requested a one-day absence from his duties.
According to Herwin, the summon from Bawaslu Central Jakarta has only been received yesterday. "The summon [by Bawaslu] was received yesterday afternoon. And today [Gibran] went to Jakarta [to fulfill the summon]," Herwin said.
Herwin also explained that Gibran requested an absence from work and not time off, as he often does if he needs to conduct election-related campaigning events.
When asked if Gibran has requested another time off to attend his next campaign, Herwin said that "there has been no request for another time off for campaign, since there is no campaigning schedule yet. And for the presidential debate, it is scheduled for Sunday."
It was previously reported that the Vice Head of the Prabowo-Gibran Campaigning Team Habiburokhman said that Gibran Rakabuming Raka will fulfill the summing of Bawaslu Central Jakarta on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at 01:00 p.m. WIB. Bawaslu Central Jakarta ensured that Gibran did not breach general elections regulation while distributing the milk during the car free day event in Jakarta.
