TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ragunan Wildlife Park's information and public relations service staff, Wahyudi Bambang, said there was an increase in visitors during the Christmas and New Year holidays this time compared to last year.
"Overall visitors have increased for the Christmas holidays, which has exceeded before," said Bambang when met by Tempo at the Ragunan Wildlife Park, South Jakarta on Monday, December 25, 2023.
Bambang said there were around 60,000 visitors to Ragunan during the Christmas holidays last year. However, visits as of yesterday, December 24, 2023, were recorded at 92,000 people.
"It's starting to get busy, it has increased in the last week. Yesterday we calculated the peak was 92,000 until the ticket window closed," he said.
Ragunan Wildlife Park is located on 147 hectares of land. According to Bambang, the ideal maximum capacity for visitor comfort is in the range of 60,000 to 70,000 visitors. "Once there were up to 230 thousand visitors, it was uncomfortable," he said.
The entrance ticket price for a trip to Ragunan is quite affordable, namely Rp4,000 for adults and Rp3,000 for children. Visitors can see around 2,200 animal collections. Operational hours are 07:00 WIB to 16:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
During the Christmas holiday, Bambang predicts there will be an increase in visitors until the start of New Year 2024.
According to Tempo's observations, traffic from Jalan Gatot Subroto towards Ragunan Wildlife Park is quite quiet. However, as soon as they entered the area around Ragunan, visitors' vehicles were packed and there was a buildup.
