Jokowi Claims No Capital City Greener Than IKN

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi claimed that the Nusantara Capital City or IKN will become the greenest capital city in the world. 

The reforestation effort of endemic plants in IKN will transform the area to become a lot greener. "No capital city will be greener than IKN," he said during the groundbreaking of the Central Hospital in IKN on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

The development of IKN will focus on the green concept and atmosphere. The President claimed to have asked all developing parties in the IKN project to implement the green concept. "I always emphasize to any party developing in IKN that the building must be a green building," he said.

Jokowi also asked for developing parties in IKN to report their development plan to IKN Authority Head Bambang Susantono and IKN's curator Ridwan Kamil to ensure the concept is uniform.

During this groundbreaking season, President Jokowi inaugurated a government-owned hospital in IKN after three private hospital developments were inaugurated earlier. 

According to Jokowi, the green concept will help inpatients to feel calmer. "Seeing the greenery in this [hospital], oxygen aplenty, it will calm the mind. The stroke, the health diseases, all will stay away," he concluded.
