TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Before traveling abroad with your children, please make sure the little ones have their passports ready. Since applying for a passport takes quite a bit of time, please be mindful of your travel schedule and passport registration process.

Below are some tips for applying for children's passports:

1. Begin preparation way before the actual trip

Begin application for children's passports a few weeks before your scheduled trip. Applying for passports takes a significant amount of time.

2. Make sure you have all the required documents

Gathering all required documents to apply for children's passports is the most critical point of the process since you can't go through with the application if even one goes missing.

The documents needed to apply for children's passports are:

- A valid Indonesian father or mother's identity card (KTP) or certificate of moving abroad

- A family register (KK)

- A birth certificate or baptism certificate

- A parents' marriage certificate/book

- A statement letter of name changes (for those who have changed their name) issued by an authorized official.

- An old regular passport for those who already have one

- A parent's passport

3. The procedure to apply for  children's passports

The process to apply for children's passports is similar to those of adults. The details are:

- Register through the M-Paspor application which can be downloaded via App Store or Google Play. You can make a manual application in the following way.

- Fill in the data in the application provided at the application counter at the Immigration office and attach the required documents.

- Wait for the Immigration Officer to check the required documents.

- Get a receipt for the application and payment code from the Immigration Officer right after your required documents are declared complete.

- If the required documents are declared complete, the office will conduct an interview, passport photo, and biometric.

The passport is ready in 3 work days if there are no data changes or declared incomplete.

4. Application fare

The fare for children's passports are the same as for adults, namely Rp350,000 for 48 pages of regular non-electronic passports and Rp650,000 for 48 pages of regular electronic passport.
