TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Executive General Manager of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Dwi Ananda Wicaksana stated that the airport expected the number of passengers amid the Christmas and New Year holidays this year to increase cumulatively by 12.5 percent compared to 2022.
"We expect passenger mobilization at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to reach 148,461 passengers during the holiday or from Dec. 18, 2023, to Jan. 4, 2024," Dwi said on Thursday.
To anticipate this increase, Dwi added, the international airport has prepared an operational plan.
"The operational plan based on the personnel availability, the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport readies 3,147 internal and external personnel," Dwi said.
The first peak departing period is expected to occur on Friday, Dec. 22. Meanwhile, the second peak departing day would be in the next week on Dec. 29. "The reverse flow will peak on January 2, 2024," Dwi explained.
Dwi ensured that all aviation services and operational facilities at the airport are optimal to handle the flow of travelers this upcoming holiday.
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is equipped with a TravelinPass facility that allows passengers to board through biometric face recognition. This technology will shorten boarding time during the peak season, Dwi said.
Concerning safety, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport's Rescue and Fire Fighting unit is always on alert.
