1. President Jokowi Arrives in Dubai to Attend COP28

President Joko Widodo or Jokowi arrived in Dubai yesterday afternoon. Jokowi is there to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat said in a written statement.

The Indonesia-1 Presidential Plane carrying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and a small team of delegates landed at the Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) at 16:25 on Thursday, 30 November.

2. Indonesia Pavilion Talks of GHG Emissions in Dubai's COP28

Indonesia Pavilion discussed the issue of glass house gas or GHG emissions reduction during the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, UAE.

"The [forestry, energy, and waste] sectors contributed to GHG emissions reduction in Indonesia by 42.1 percent in 2023 compared to business as usual," Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar said on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Foresty and other land use (FOLU) sectors remained the biggest contributor in reducing GHG emissions, reaching 60 percent.

3. Govt Claims Elon Musk's Starlink License is Not Withheld Due to Pro-Israel Stance

Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi stressed that the Indonesian government withheld the license of Starlink, a telecommunication company owned by Elon Musk, to provide its services in the country to protect national data sovereignty.

Starlink and Indonesia have yet to agree on compliance to use the Indonesian IP Address. "The issue with Starlink is about our data sovereignty, As long as they agree on the IP Address we'll concede. But if the IP Address is not in Indonesia, how will we control it?" the minister said in Jakarta, on Thursday.
