TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The two docu-drama films are titled "Jawara Desa" and "Desa Para Pemimpi(n)." The film "Jawara Desa" is set in Nagari Padang Ganting, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, and Mandalagiri Village, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java. The other film is set in Akebay Village, Tidore Islands City, North Maluku, and Tanjung Setia Village, Pesisir Barat, Lampung. Tb. Chaerul Dwi Sapta, Director of Community and Customary Village, Women's Empowerment and Family Planning (PKK), and Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) at the Directorate General of Village Governance, Kemendagri, representing the Acting Director General of Village Governance, La Ode Ahmad P. Bolombo, stated that these films are a collaboration with the World Bank under the Village Governance and Development Strengthening Program (P3PD). He explained that these films focus on leadership, entrepreneurship, and the potential of rural areas to address urbanization and strengthen the economy. "So that our 75,265 villages can improve their economy, progress, and the well-being of their communities," he said during a press briefing at the Hotel Holiday Inn in Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Chaerul explained that the initiative to produce these films was driven by Kemendagri's goal to prevent large-scale rural-to-urban migration. If urbanization occurs on a significant scale, rural areas may be abandoned, leading to food insecurity and high inflation. "Our Minister often emphasizes urbanization. We must ensure that productive people in the villages don't move to the cities, avoiding urbanization. That's why villages need to advance, and people can live in villages with metropolitan earnings," he explained. In addition to producing the two docu-drama films, Chaerul mentioned that Kemendagri has created 100 videos to strengthen unity, cohesion, and positive education about villages. These videos involve Village Heads, Village Secretaries, and Village Community Institutions. For the screening, Kemendagri will collaborate with relevant ministries and stakeholders to ensure widespread distribution. "We will hold the premiere at Djakarta Theatre on December 2nd and 4th, 2023," he added. Hanung Bramantyo added that the challenge in making docu-drama films is to maintain accurate facts while making them engaging and enjoyable. The selection of characters and locations in the films is the result of in-depth research. He acknowledged that there are many other accomplished individuals in different places worthy of recognition. "Therefore, without disregarding other notable figures, we have selected four characters in these films as representations of the narrative we aim to promote, which is building Indonesia from its villages," he said.
