TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Delegates from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) met with Achmad Jaka Santos Adiwidjaya, secretary of the Nusantara Capital (IKN) Authority. They met for a discussion on the prospects of collaborating in the development of the new capital in East Kalimantan.
Exploring cooperation with KOICA is something that is anticipated by the IKN Authority, as KOICA is a South Korean government agency that participated in the development project for the "second" capital of South Korea, namely Sejong City.
According to Jaka, the main vision of the IKN Authority is not solely to build Nusantara and move people there. "Our main vision is to create a new culture that is smart, sustainable and creative," he said in a written statement on Monday, November 27.
"The similarities between Sejong and Nusantara in how both cities are developed becomes the basis of our hopes for escalating future cooperation," he said.
KOICA also plans to visit Nusantara to finalize the cooperation strategy that will later be presented by KOICA.
KOICA plays a role in South Korea's ODA (Official Development Assistance) for developing countries. The agency provides grant programs and government technical cooperation with the goal of realizing sustainable development, overcoming poverty in developing nations, and addressing global issues through international development cooperation to synergize with the international community.
