Tourism Ministry Claims World Bank Approves US$30mn Fund for Tourism Awareness Campaign

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno claimed that the World Bank agreed to fund US$3 million or Rp465 billion to resume the Tourism Awareness Campaign in 2024.
"The World Bank agreed to provide additional funding in 2024 to sustain this program," Sandiaga said on Sunday.
In addition to the funding from the World Bank, the ministry also prepared additional funding for the campaign. These funds will be utilized to support villages in need of human resources and agency improvement.
"We will make sure the funds will be balanced by a good and inclusive management. Not only for its preparation but also the utilization and audit to ensure total welfare for the community," he said.
So far, the ministry has been calculating the required funds for the Tourism Awareness Campaign in 2024.
Meanwhile, the ministry has crowned several best tourism villages during this run of the Tourism Awareness Campaign. The awards consisted of five categories with nineteen winners.
Sandiaga hoped these winners would be motivated to escalate and amplify their respective villages through promotional campaigns or acceleration of tourism products.
"Hopefully, this [awards] will create more business and job opportunities, and strengthen our economy," he concluded.
