TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi hopes that the Tangguh Train 3 National Strategic Project (PSN) can increase its natural gas (LNG) production capacity to 11.4 million tons per year. This project is claimed to be the largest natural gas-producing project in Indonesia.
Jokowi inaugurated Tangguh Train 3 in Teluk Bintuni Regency, West Papua on Friday, November 24. The President said the Tnagguh Train 3 project was built with an investment of US$4.83 billion or Rp72.45 trillion.
"This facility is expected to contribute significantly to supporting the gas production target of 12 standard cubic feet per day by 2030," Jokowi said as quoted from a video statement shared by the Palace's Press and Media Bureau.
Jokowi said he was happy with this investment project, as it would provide jobs for Indonesians. The president said that 70 percent of the operational staff for this project are workers from West Papua and Papua. He said that by 2029 the target is for the project to employ Indonesians as 25 percent of its workers.
In his speech at Bintuni Bay, Jokowi said he would lay the first stone of the Ubadari field CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) project, the blue ammonia downstream project, as well as the Kido Merah smoke oil and gas field project.
