AirAsia to Open Flight Between Jakarta and Malaysia's Kota Kinabalu

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost carrier Indonesia AirAsia announced the launch of new domestic and international routes, namely Bali-Lampung and Jakarta-Kota Kinabalu. The airline’s president director, Veranita Yosephine Sinaga, said the company is committed to supporting Indonesia’s tourism and economy.
“One of them is by continuing to open new routes that connect various leading destinations,” Veranita said in a written statement, on Friday, November 17.
She mentioned that the Bali-Lampung route is the sixth domestic route that the airline is opening this year, while the Jakarta-Kota Kinabalu route is the airline's fifth international route.
In addition to providing a variety of connectivity, Veranita said the new routes demonstrate the airline’s strengthening relationship with all regional stakeholders and neighboring countries to synergize and work together in order to accelerate the tourism recovery and boost the local economy.
"The Indonesian tourism industry is intensively carrying out various promotions. As the end of the year is approaching, [the government] is pushing for various tourist sites to attract foreign and domestic tourists," Veranita said.
The Bali-Lampung flight will be available four days a week from January 17, 2024, while the first direct international flight between Jakarta and Kota Kinabalu was scheduled to fly on February 6, 2024, and will be available three days a week.
For these two new flights, Indonesia AirAsia will use Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 passengers.
