13 November 2023 11:44 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Secretary of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming's National Campaign Team (TKN) Nusron Wahid responded to the abuse of power allegation. The allegation arose due to suspected police involvement in the running candidate's billboard installment.

Nusron denied this claim. "How did we even think of abuse of power? We never even think of it let alone have any experience in it," he said in a written statement on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

"In reality, who has the experience to do so?" he remarked, asking the people throwing the allegation to reflect.

According to Nusron Wahid, his team has been contacted by Civil State Apparatus and head of regional offices that several Acting Regents in Central Java asked them to support certain candidates. "One of our volunteers reported [to us]," he said.

Nusron claimed that his side is committed to democratic and accountable general elections. He also stated that TKN is determined to win Prabowo-Gibran in an elegant, honorable, fair, honest, just, and transparent manner.

"We are all determined to do so," Nusron stressed.

Additionally, Nusron also claimed that TKN wanted to safeguard the general elections to ensure it is not tainted by unfair practices.

Earlier, the Coalition of Civil Society for a Democratic Elections believed that the police-installed billboards showcased President Jokowi's power to win his son in the 2024 general elections.

"[President Jokowi] is deploying all of his political power to ensure a win for Prabowo-Gibran," the Civil Coalition claimed.
