TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is planning to resume the incentive program for electric vehicles, especially electric motorcycles.
The Deputy Coordination for Infrastructure and Transportation of the ministry Rachmat Kaimuddin stated that the amount of incentive will be the same as it was this year.
"For now, the incentive for [electric] motorcycles in 2024 is similar to this year, at least Rp7 million. We'll see later," Rachmat said in Jakarta on Friday.
However, Rachmat observed that people are more interested in the electric motorcycle conversion than buying a new one despite it being the more expensive choice.
According to Rachmat, the ministry is currently evaluating the budget for the 2024 electric motorcycle conversion program since Rp7 million is not enough to attract the general public.
"We will re-evaluate for [electric motorcycle conversion] since it's quite expensive and an Rp7 million support is not enough to sway people," he said. "We're calculating. [Increasing the incentive] is not decided but in consideration."
Rachmat also stated that his side will conduct massive socialization on this program in the future.
