Yogyakarta Holds Jogja Cultural Wellness Festival 2023

TEMPO.CO, YogyakartaThe Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has declared Yogyakarta as one of the wellness tourism destinations in 2022, along with Surakarta and Bali. 

As part of the initiative, the Regional Tourism Promotion Agency or BPPD DIY holds the Jogja Cultural Wellness Festival or JCWF 2023 in November 2023, based on the philosophy of Olah Saliro, Roso, Lan Pikir or cultivating one's attitudes, feelings, and thoughts which emphasizes the importance of balancing the body, mind, and soul.

JCWF 2023 will be held throughout November 2023 in various locations such as cultural heritage sites, tourist villages, resorts, spas and beauty shops, healthy product outlets, fitness centers, tourist conservation parks, museums and art studios, yoga studios, and sports centers. The peak event will take place on November 24-26, 2023.

“This event invites tourists to raise awareness about wellness by experiencing Yogyakarta's culture,” BPPD DIY Chairperson, Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Bendara, said on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023.

Bendara said the event presents several themes of activities, such as Javanese Dance Meditation, Gamelan Meditation, Daundala Awicarita, Ngadi Saliro Herbal Medicine, Massage and Spa Therapy, Javanese Yoga, Natural Bicycles, Mlaku Rasa, Nandur, and Cooking Classes.

In total, there are four JCWF 2023 series, namely Cultural Immersion Experiences, Mindfulness & Body Activities, Educational Programs, and Festive Cultural and Bazaar.

The final series of the JCWF 2023, the Festive Cultural & Bazaar will showcase the diversity of Yogyakarta culture, wellness, entertainment, art, cuisine, exhibitions, and bazaars. Activities include yoga with a renowned artist and yoga instructor Anjasmara, music for the soul, bazaars, cultural performances, mass kendurenan, and exhibitions.
