TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG released a forecast for today, Wednesday, November 1, 2023. According to BMKG, parts of Indonesia will be drenched in rain and high waves.
"Sumatra, in general, will see a light rain, but South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Jambi, West Sumatra, Riau, and Riau Islands all have potential for medium rain, while North Sumatra and Aceh will be hit with heavy rains," BMKG wrote.
Java island in general will see partly cloudy skies except for Central Java and West Java, seeking to experience a medium rain today. Bali, NTB, and NTT are all expected to see partly cloudy skies. Light rain is forecasted to hit Kalimantan, except West and East Kalimantan which will be hit by medium rain.
Partly cloudy skies are also present in Sulawesi, except for Central Sulawesi with prediction medium rain. Papua is forecasted with heavy rain and Maluku, West Papua, and Southeast Sulawesi are forecasted with medium rain.
Generally, the temperature in Indonesia ranges from 18 to 36 degrees Celsius with air humidity level of 40 to 100 percent.
Meanwhile, the wind pattern in the northern side of Indonesia moves from south to west with 4-12 knots velocity, while in the southern part of Indonesia, the wind moves from east to northeast with 8-25 knots velocity. The strongest wind is recorded in the waters west of Selayar Islands and the southern part of Makassar Strait.
BMKG also reported medium waves of 1.25 to 2.5 meters will occur in the Indian Ocean south of Java to Sumba Island, Sawu Sea, North Natuna Sea, east of Java Sea, south of Makassar Strait, west of Banda Sea, Tanimbar Islands, and Arafuru Sea. While 2.5 to 4 meters high waves will hit the Indian Ocean west of Lampung.
