TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inspected the road reconstruction process in Rumbia, Central Lampung today, Friday, October 27, 2023. The president hopes the residents will no longer complain about damaged roads.
"The road is pretty smooth now, [we] were able to sleep in the car," he said today as quoted from a video released by the Presidential Press Bureau.
The inspected road today was the same one under the spotlight last May after a video of the damaged road was widely spread on the internet. The video was allegedly uploaded by Bimo Yudho Saputro, a local.
During that time, Jokowi immediately went to Lampung Province to conduct a sudden inspection concerning the damaged road in the region. The central government proceeded to allot Rp800 billion of budget to repair 17 roads in Lampung.
Jokowi today informed that while the reconstruction is not 100 percent done, there is progress. The president expressed his hope that the reconstruction will last a few years.
"[The reconstruction] is expected to finish by December," he said.
