Minister Erick Thohir Says 90% of Strategic Projects are Finalized

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of State-Owned-Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir reported that his office has finalized 90 percent of its total strategic projects. The remaining 10 percent is targeted to be finalized before the end of President Jokowi's administration.
"This is SOE's support toward the government concerning the strategic projects set to improve economic growth, equal development, prosperity, and regional development," SOE Minister Erick Thohir said in a written statement on Tuesday, October 24.
He explained that the ministry created a Strategic Delivery Unit (SDU) during the development of these projects to promote acceleration.
"The duty [of SDU] is to supervise the 88 strategic projects directly under the SOEs Minister. The results are effective. The majority of these strategic projects will be finalized come end-of-year," said the minister.
Furthermore, Erick mentioned these projects were a symbol of ministry transformation during his leadership. He claimed to have identified three issues within the ministry. These issues are the bureaucratic nature of the ministry, the sheer size of the ministry which causes difficulty to focus, and non-binding values.
According to the minister, the next step in the ministry's transformation was expanding the reach of the transformation by creating a more efficient change in management.
Additionally, Erick Thohir created teams to smooth out coordination between SOEs and the SOEs Ministry. These teams are the Legal and Regulations Department Team, the Finance and Risk Management Department Team, and the Human Resources, Technology, and Information Department Team.
