TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono did not deny the news of the discussion of Jakarta's special status in Yogyakarta over the weekend. According to Heru Budi, it was an internal discussion of the provincial government of Jakarta.
"It was an internal discussion," he said when met at DPRD Jakarta on Monday, October 23.
Heru Budi did not explain further the reason for his visit to Yogyakarta with provincial government officials nor did he reveal the result of said discussion.
The governor only stated that the central government is currently drafting the Jakarta Special Status Bill. "[The bill] is being discussed by the Minister of Home Affairs and the House of Representatives," he said.
Earlier, the Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono mentioned that the Jakarta Special Status Bill has been included in the 2023 National Legislative Programs.
According to Joko, the drafting process of this Bill is estimated to be finalized in December 2023. Thus, the Jakarta Special Status Bill, governing the future of Jakarta post-state capital transfer to IKN, will be inked next year.
