TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno proposed that Bogor City becomes a creative city recognized by UNESCO, for its three highlighted sub-sectors of creative economy.
"Next year, [Bogor] will be assessed, the city has three highlighted sub-sectors of the creative economy, such as the culinary sector, crafts, and fashion," he said during a working visit in Bogor, on Thursday.
The minister stated that Indonesia already has four creative cities recognized by UNESCO, namely Ambon City of Music, Bandung City of Design, Jakarta City of Literature, and Pekalongan City of Batik.
"So, if we want to add on to these creative cities, Bogor has been known globally for its culinary, crafts, and fashion," he said.
Sandiaga Uno also asked creative economy actors in Bogor City to keep innovating and creating, as well as providing a wide range of employment opportunities, to boost the people's economy.
He also asks these creative economy actors to utilize technology to reach wider markets. "It is proven that in Indonesia, there are 4.4 million new employment opportunities by creative economy actors and MSMEs," Sandiaga added.
