Palestinian authorities reported on Thursday that fourteen medical facilities have been destroyed and ten medical staff killed during the attacks. Doctors Without Borders (MSF) stated that their organization counted that sixteen medical personnel had been killed since Saturday with eighteen ambulances damaged and eight medical facilities decimated in whole or in part.
Sohaib Safi, MSF medical coordinator in Gaza reported to Aljazeera that the scale of the damage was “very clear evidence” that medical aid in the enclave was being intentionally attacked by Israeli forces. According to Safi, ambulances that were trying to reach areas under fire were targeted as a message that no one should get inside to evacuate injured or stuck people.
"As a result, taxis and private cars had increasingly been taking up the task of transferring the wounded to hospitals to avoid attracting attention," Safi said as quoted by Tempo on Friday.
Israeli airstrikes bombed an International Eye Hospital in Tal Al-Hawa and surrounding residential areas in the Gaza Strip, killing and injuring many people.
WAFA correspondent reported that an Israeli airstrike on Monday completely destroyed an ambulance in the northwest of Gaza, injuring the medical staff and patient inside. Meanwhile, hospitals in Gaza reported that the Israeli airstrikes in Gaza and the West Bank have killed more than 560 and injured more than 2,900 civilians.
Palestinian Health Minister Mai Alkaila on Monday urged the international community to take action to halt Israel's attack on medical centers, ambulances, and medical staff in the Gaza Strip.
Alkaili alleged that Israeli forces were targeting the hospitals, and ambulances, as well as killing and injuring medical personnel deliberately, a grave violation of international law, as reported by the Palestinian news office WAFA.
