Jokowi Summons PPATK; Syahrul Yasin Limpo's Case Among the Talks

12 October 2023 12:39 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Joko Widodo or Jokowi summoned the Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) Ivan Yustiavandana to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Ivan revealed that they discussed several topics, including the case of former agriculture minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo, who was suspected of being involved in corruption.

According to him, the President mentioned several issues and the agency’s duties, including the Financial Action Task Force, which will be held on October 23 - 28, 2023.

“Yes, [we discussed] everything, [including Syahrul’s case],” Ivan said. However, he refused to elaborate on the NasDem politician’s alleged corruption acts.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is presently investigating three clusters of suspected corruption in the Ministry of Agriculture: extortion, gratification, and money laundering.

Investigators have searched some places, including the official residence of Syahrul and the ministry’s office some time ago. The KPK investigators found tens of billions in rupiah and foreign currency, as well as 12 firearms, which were reported to Jakarta Metro Police.

PPATK had also frozen several accounts linked to Syahrul Yasin Limpo and provided the KPK with the results of an analysis of the money flow reaching hundreds of billions.
