TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Denpasar Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the drought in Bali has spread to 15 districts due to 80 days of no rain.

"Generally, Bali is placed in the category of rainy to extreme drought," said Coordinator for Data and Information BMKG Denpasar I Nyoman Gede Wiryajaya in Bali today, September 22, 2023.

BMKG released an early warning for drought in Bali every ten days and renewed based on the most recent observation from the agency.

The 15 districts are Buleleng, Gerokgak, Kubutambahan, Sawan, and Sukasada in Buleleng Regency. Then Melayan District in Jembrana Regency, as well as Kintamani, Bangli, Karangasem, and Kubu Districts in Karangasem Regency.

The other districts are Kuta, North Kuta, and South Kuta in Badung Regency. Then Nusa Penida District in Klungkung Regency, East Denpasar District and South Denpasar District in Denpasar City. He mentioned that the longest drought was experienced in Kubu, Kubutambahan, and Kintamani.

Around ten days ago, BMKG Denpasar recorded drought in 14 districts in Bali. Despite the spread of drought, he said, there are potentials of rain in several areas in Bali until September 30, 2023, namely Selemadeg, West Selemadeg, and Sidemen Districts.

"The rain distribution in Bali ranges from 0 to 215.5 milliliters per ten days," he said.
