TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono confirmed that all residents will be required to renew their identity cards or KTP when the city no longer holds the status of capital. He said the adjustment was necessary.
“The Special Capital Region of Jakarta (DKI) will become the Special Region of Jakarta (DKJ). Of course, there must be adjustments to all identities, so just reprint them,” Joko said in Monas on Monday, September 18, as quoted from Antara.
He said his side is ready to disseminate the status change of Jakarta next year to all residents. The city administration will also prepare the budget.
“We will prepare the budget next year. And we will disseminate it because the bill is being finalized,” Joko added.
The Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency (Dukcapil) is also ready to provide ID card reprinting services after the status change.
“Reprinting the electronic ID Card (e-KTP) is reasonable when DKI changes to DKJ. Of course, there must also be editorial changes in the KTP for DKJ residents,” Dukcapil Head Budi Awaludin said in Jakarta on Monday.
