TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin left for China today, September 14, for a series of working visits including the expansion of the country's halal products. “The VP will visit China for a few days,” said VP's spokesperson Masduki Baidlowi in a statement in Jakarta, on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
The VP along with his wife Wury Ma'ruf Amin and a limited entourage took off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang to Fuzhou Changle International Airport in Fujian on Garuda Indonesia aircraft (GIA-2) at 9 a.m.
He was scheduled to visit three cities, namely Fuzhou, Nanning, and Shanghai.
In Fuzhou, Fujian Province, he will hold several meetings, including with the Secretary of the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) Fujian Provincial Committee, Zhou Zuyi, and local entrepreneurs of the halal sector, such as seafood businesses, beverages, and frozen food supply chain logistics.
“This is very important because Indonesia aims to become the largest producer of halal goods in the world. Indonesia has only been a user by far, but later it will become a producer,” Masduki said.
In Shanghai, the VP will visit the representative office of the Indonesian Ulema Council Food and Drug Analysis Agency (LPPOM MUI) in Shanghai Al Amin Co. Ltd. He will also receive a courtesy visit from the Shanghai Government and meet with local entrepreneurs operating in the halal sector.
Through the meeting, Masduki went on, VP Ma'ruf Amin will attract halal industry entrepreneurs in Shanghai to invest not only in China but also in Indonesia.
