TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Art markets are one of the places to go if you are seeking arts and crafts. In Indonesia, there are several must-visit art markets, each with its own unique characteristics.

Citing various sources, here are four recommended art markets in Indonesia:

1. Sukawati Art Market, Gianyar

Located 30 kilometers away from Denpasar Airport, Sukawati Art Market is located in Sukawati Village, Gianyar, Bali. The market offers affordable Balinese artworks and clothing. This market is one of the most popular shopping destinations for domestic and foreign tourists visiting Bali.

2. Gabusan Art Market, Bantul

Established in 2004, the art market is located 10 kilometers away from the center of Yogyakarta. Citing Visitjawatengah, the market was developed as a marketplace for arts and crafts local to Bantul.

The market is also designed with an international-scale exhibition concept. Standing on 4.5 hectares of land, the market has the capacity to contain 400 artists divided into 16 stalls. Every stall is dedicated to specific products, such as wood, bamboo, painting, silver, ceramic, and metal.

3. Triwindu Antique Market, Surakarta

Triwindu market is located at the heart of Solo, adjacent to Candi Mangkunegaran and Ngarsopuro. The market was established in 1939 to honor the 24th inauguration of Adipati Sri Mangkunegara VII.

The market offers antique items such as vintage masks, ancient coins from the 1800s, vintage jars, and others. Triwindu remains a popular destination for antique collectors from around the globe.

4. Ubud Art Market, Gianyar

Ubud Art Market is located at Jl. Raya Ubud No. 35. Citing traditionalshoppingindonesia.id, artists who resided in Ubud initially made art for ritualistic purposes. However, the arrival of foreign tourists prompted these artists to commercialize their art, starting from the 1930s.
