TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Recently, people have taken to selling emissions test stickers on e-commerce. These stickers are adhered to cars or motorcycles that have passed the emissions test.
According to Tempo's investigation on e-commerce today, September 11, 2023, the stickers are priced from Rp5,000 to Rp10,000. These stickers are identical to the ones released by the Environment and Forestry Ministry.
However, the Directorate General of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control of the ministry urged the public to avoid being lured to buy these stickers. The ministry stated that the stickers are not proof of passing the emissions test.
"The emissions test stickers are not proof of passing the emissions test. The validation of passing the emissions test is solely given through the SI UMI (Integrated Emission Testing Application System) information system. Be careful, pals," Director General Sigit Reliantoro wrote on Instagram, as quoted by Tempo.
The residents are also recommended to conduct the emissions test in registered workshops listed in the ujiemisi.jakarta.go.id website and to benefit from the free-of-charge tests conducted by the government.
"Make sure that the emissions tests are conducted correctly, avoid scammers, and avoid losses caused by hoaxes," he said.
Citing ppkl.menlhk.go.id, the emissions test stickers are given to vehicles passing the test with a one-year time limit. The stickers are useful for progressive parking areas in Jakarta but are not a guarantee to avoid emissions test tickets since the police will check the vehicles' status through the e-Emissions Test application.
