TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The joint venture of Indonesian and Chinese railway companies, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), confirmed that the fire incident at Halim Station would not disrupt the trial schedule of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train.
Earlier reported, a fire broke out on the platform roof of Halim Station in the early hours of Monday, September 11, 2023.
“There is no operational disruption. The trial schedule will stay on track,” PT KCIC's GM Corporate Secretary, Eva Chairunissa, told Tempo via a text message on Monday, September 11, 2023.
Eva explained that the fire burned the protective layer of the roof on the east platform of the station. “There were only sparks in the roof’s coating protection. The interior and exterior of the station building are safe,” she said.
Eva also said that there were no casualties in the fire incident. However, she stopped short of mentioning the material losses caused by the blaze. “[We’ll] inform later,” she shortly said.
On September 10, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said on his Instagram that President Joko Widodo or Jokowi would take a test ride on the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
