TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) announced a 20-percent discount on train fares for passengers with a disability. The discount applies to executive, business, and economy-class train tickets departing on or after September 17, 2023.
The price discount is offered in commemoration of National Customer Day which falls on September 4, 2023.
“This fixed discount for customers with disabilities is a gift from KAI on National Customer Day to our brothers and sisters who have had physical, intellectual, mental, and/or sensory limitations,” KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said in an official statement, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
In order to obtain this facility, would-be passengers are required to register at the customer service desk in all stations no later than D-2 of the train's departure by presenting their original disability certificate. This one-time registration can be represented by another person by bringing the original certificate, original identity card, and a photo of the disabled passenger.
Once registered, passengers can purchase tickets at a discounted fare through the KAI’s Access mobile app or at the station counter.
Joni hoped that the discount for customers with a disability could make it easier for them to travel by public transportation modes such as trains.
