1. Jokowi Urges Jakarta to Expedite EV Transition to Curb Air Pollution
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo asked the Jakarta provincial government to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles or EV in a bid to reduce air pollution in the capital city.
Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono confirmed the President's mandate after the limited meeting on pollution at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, on Monday, August 28, 2023.
“The president led the meeting on pollution. One of the tasks assigned to us is to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, especially in Transjakarta,” Heru said as quoted from Antara today, August 29.
2. Halim LRT Station to Integrate with KCJB Through a Skybridge
Transportation Ministry spokesperson Adita Irawati explained that Halim LRT Station will integrate with the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB) through a sky bridge.
"We will ensure first that the infrastructure of KCJB has been established before operating [the skybridge] in Halim [LRT Station]," said Adita after the inauguration of LRT Jabodebek on Monday, August 28, 2023.
Adita explained that the construction for the sky bridge has been finalized. However, the operation will wait for KCJB. "That's how it is supposed to be since [the skybridge] is integrated with LRT. In the future, people going to Bandung will stop at Halim and switch to KCJB [to continue their trip]," said Adita.
3. Indonesia Exports 1,000 Tonnes of Mung Bean to China
Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo sends off the export of 1,000 tonnes of mung bean from PT Haniori to China.
"I believe this 1,000 tonnes of mung bean is a symbol of [Indonesia's] strong agriculture potential, especially related to mung bean," says the minister in Jakarta on Monday, August 28, 2023.
He mentions that Indonesia's mung bean production potential is caused by the mung bean variety unique to Indonesia.
