TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two minimarket employees heroically thwarted a robbery in Curug, Cimanggis District, Depok, Tuesday night, August 22. One of the two young men even had a finger cut off by the robbers.
Head of Public Relations Affairs (Kaur Humas) Depok Metro Police First Inspector Made Budi said that the robbery attempt took place on August 22. Three men entered the minimarket as employees RK (19) and TD (23) were about to close the shop.
"The robbers threatened the employees with sharp weapons and demanded money from the safe," Made Budi said on Wednesday, August 23.
After they got the money—almost Rp9.5 million, along with 62 packs of cigarettes—the robbers tried to flee. But the employees chased down the robbers and fought them. They managed to take back the money but both of them were injured by the robbers' weapons.
TD's left ring finger and little finger were torn, while RK's left middle finger was completely severed, Made Budi said.
Eventually, local residents surrounded the robbers and handed them over to the police.
