TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted thunderstorms to pour over Tanjung Pinang on Monday, August 31, 2023. Meanwhile, heavy rain is predicted to pour over Medan.

Mamuju is predicted to have medium rain while Samarinda, Ambon, Ternate, Manokwari, Pekanbaru, and Manado will be drizzled with some light rains.

"Banjarmasin and Pontianak are forecasted to be covered in smoke," quoted from the official website of BMKG. In addition, Jambi, Samarinda, and Bandar Lampung will be foggy.

The temperature across Indonesia ranges from 20 to 35 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperatures will greet Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Kupang while Banjarmasin will record the highest.

Heavy rain with an alert warning system is also predicted to pour over West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Papua, and Papua. Meanwhile, NTB, NTT, and South Sulawesi are forecasted to have strong winds today.

BMKG also released an early warning for 2.5-4.0 meters high waves across Indonesia in the Indian Ocean at south of Central Java to NTT.

The high waves will be caused by the strong winds which move with 5-20 knots from south to west and 5-25 knots from east to northeast. The strongest winds recorded are from the south of Banten waters, south of Makassar Strait, and Arafuru Sea.
