TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Bambang Soesatyo said that Indonesia is predicted to be the world's 4th largest economy by 2045. Thus, Indonesia is expected to be the catalyst of global efforts.

"[Global efforts] to establish strong cooperation and develop a just and civilized world order," he said during the MPR annual session and a joint session with DPR and DPD in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Bambang said the world order will be based on the five principles of Pancasila.

He also mentioned that the world is shifting under the contribution of Asia to the global economic and political system, as well as ASEAN as a collective.

"Indonesia will be faced with a complex reality while heading to 2045, where Asia is the epicenter of global growth," he said.

In this situation, it is necessary for Indonesia to rejuvenate the young generation's awareness of the national vision. Currently, around 53% of civil servants consist of millennials and Gen Z. Meanwhile, both demographics dominated the voters for the upcoming election, reaching 61% of the total voters.

These numbers are proof of an ongoing inter-generational transition in the political landscape and bureaucratic system in Indonesia.

"This situation needs to be handled seriously to stimulate the awareness about the national's vision for the youth," he said. "Therefore, the agenda to disseminate the Four Pillars of MPR will be intensified, to safeguard Indonesia's ongoing regeneration."
