Bareskrim Submits Panji Gumilang Blasphemy Case File to AGO

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) has submitted the dossier of the investigation into alleged religious blasphemy with the suspect Panji Gumilang to the Indonesian Attorney General's Office today, Wednesday, 16 August.
The Bareskrim's the Director of General Crimes, Brig. Gen. Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, said that investigators have finished filing after examining 41 witnesses and 18 experts, and now the public prosecutor will examine whether the files are complete or not.
"This morning we submitted the case file to the Attorney General's Office. For further information, a research will be carried out by the public prosecutor," he said at a press conference at the Bareskrim building, Wednesday.
On August 1, the Directorate of General Crimes named Panji Gumilang, founder of Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, as a suspect for alleged blasphemy, hate speech, and spreading fake news. The Bareskrim followed the announcement by issuing an arrest warrant. Panji Gumilang will be in police custody for 20 days starting August 2.
Panji Gumilang is charged with several articles of Law 19/2016 on ITE and/or Article 14 paragraph 1 of Law 1/1946 on Criminal Law Regulations.
