Jokowi Invites Foreign Ambassadors to Board MRT, Celebrates ASEAN Day

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo invited a number of foreign ambassadors to ride MRT Jakarta (Mass Rapid Transit) to the ASEAN Secretariat in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. The entourage was about to attend the celebration of ASEAN's 56th anniversary, also known as ASEAN Day.
As observed by Tempo, the entourage arrived at Bundaran HI MRT Station at around 08:30 a.m. They proceeded to board the train in the same train car.
Before boarding the MRT, Jokowi was given a special ASEAN MRT card launched specifically to celebrate ASEAN Day.
Inside the car, Jokowi seemed to converse with the foreign ambassadors. After arriving at ASEAN Station, Jokowi and the foreign ambassadors proceeded to walk towards ASEAN Secretariat.
The general public also can be seen boarding the MRT, albeit located in different cars from the presidential entourage.
During this visit, Jokowi was accompanied by several ministers, such as Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Agung, and Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy. He was also accompanied by other related officials.
