TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost carrier Batik Air introduced a new international route connecting Medan City in North Sumatra and Penang, Kuala Lumpur.
The flight to Penang International Airport from Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang, which is the airline’s second route after Jakarta, will start operating on August 16, 2023, using Boeing 737-800NG.
“The first flight will be on August 16, 2023,” the airline’s spokesperson Danang Mandala Prihantoro said in a written statement, Friday, August 4, 2023.
Danang explained that the new route will offer scheduled flights that connect two major cities. Renowned for its wealth of culinary delights and stunning natural beauty, Medan will be the starting point for an unforgettable adventure to Penang, a popular destination with a rich cultural heritage and breathtaking beauty.
“Batik Air is very excited to open this new route. Medan - Penang is a new alternative international route, with an increasingly broad range of destinations. Batik Air wants to provide a new choice of unforgettable flights for business people and tourists,” Danang added.
He mentioned that the new international route was expected to develop Kualanamu International Airport in North Sumatra and Penang International Airport in Malaysia, as well as support economic progress in the Southeast Asian region.
