TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Bogor Regency, West Java, dispatched 10,000 liters of clean water to deal with drought in the Puncak area, particularly Kopo Village, Cisarua.
“Clean water distribution has been carried out for several villages,” Bogor BPBD head of emergency and logistics Aris Nurjatmiko said in Bogor, Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
He explained that clean water was supplied to Sukamulya Village (5,000 liters), RT 03/11 of Cidokom Village (2,500 liters), and RT 02/11 of Cidokom Village (2,500 liters).
The water assistance could only be provided to 328 families consisting of 1,020 people.
Based on the BPBD Bogor data, two other villages in Cisarua have also experienced water shortages.
“Two more villages need clean water,” Aris said.
He explained that the drought occurred because of a rain deficit in the region amid the dry season. Thus, sources of water dropped. “Residents are facing difficulties to meet their daily needs for clean water,” Aris said.
Other than distributing clean water supplies, the Bogor BPBD carried out a number of mitigation efforts against drought, such as coordinating with local officials, taking actions according to disaster standard operating procedures (SOP), and performing a rapid disaster assessment.
