Passenger Train Crashes into Trailer Truck in Semarang

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A passenger train named Brantas bound for Jakarta from Blitar crashes into a trailer truck at a bridge at Jalan Madukoro, West Semarang, Tuesday night, July 18, 2023.
Based on a 51-second-duration video circulating on the internet, the collision had caused quite an explosion when the train's locomotive hit the head of the trailer truck that was traveling from north to south.
The trailer truck, which did not carry any load during the incident, was dragged about 50 meters from the crossing.
One of the train passengers named Dimas (25) said that he did not know the exact cause as to why the collision occurred, he only heard a loud crash and then the train suddenly stopped.
Meanwhile, the police and KAI officers are still trying to evacuate the truck that was stuck at the mouth of the bridge.
The Chief of Semarang City Police Resort, Commissioner Irwan Anwar, stated that there were no fatalities in the incident. However, one passenger was injured as he jumped from the carriage during the incident.
