TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Police shot and arrested three robbers armed with sharp weapons, known as begal, at their hiding place, South Tambun, Bekasi Regency, on Saturday, July 8, 2023.

“These three people are all recidivists. They have committed [criminal] acts in other places many times, not just once. There are three police reports,” said Bekasi Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Commissioner Gogo Galesung, at West Cikarang Police Post on Monday, July 17, 2023.

If failing, they would rob residents' homes armed with sickles. They damaged the padlock to enter the house and then stole valuable objects. “The perpetrators did not hesitate to injure the victims with sharp weapons,” Gogo explained.

Based on the results of the investigation, the police managed to locate their hideout. They resisted arrest, so the police needed to shoot them in the leg. “The perpetrators admitted that before committing the robbery they took type G drugs, such as Tramadol,” Gogo added.

At the time of arrest, the Bekasi Police confiscated six sickles as evidence. The three violent robbers would be subject to Article 365 Paragraph (2) 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code, Article 368 of the Criminal Code, and Article 363 Paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
