TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Fair, locally known as Pekan Raya Jakarta (PRJ) 2023, came to an end on Sunday, July 16. The organizing committee chairperson Karuna Murdaya thanked all visitors, participants, and stakeholders for supporting the event held at Jakarta International Expo or JIExpo Kemayoran, North Jakarta.
Karuna also offered apologies for shortcomings occurring throughout the fair. “We, on behalf of the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2023 committee, apologize if there are any shortcomings and various things that are not pleasing to visitors,” he said while giving a closing speech on the PRJ’s main stage on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
This year’s largest annual exhibition in Southeast Asia took place from June 14 until July 16, 2023. Karuna reported that at least 1,600 booths from 2,500 companies participated in the event offering diverse products at discounted prices.
The number of visitors, he added, reached 6.3 million people with transaction value amounting to Rp7.3 trillion.
The event held to commemorate Jakarta’s anniversary also absorbed tens of thousands of workers. “This proves that the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran is driving the revival of the national economy, especially from the MSME sector, and contributes to creating jobs for the community,” Karuna remarked.
He concluded that the other most crucial goal was that PT Jakarta International Expo committed to continuously improving the quality of the event, facilities, infrastructure, and convenience, besides providing special experiences for visitors.
Previously, Marketing Director of JIExpo Kemayoran Ralph Scheunemann stated that the Jakarta Fair 2023 had a transaction value of over Rp7.5 trillion in 28 days, an increase from last year’s event of Rp7.1 trillion albeit with shorter days of exhibition.
