TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Electric Mobility Ecosystem Association (AEML) and AC Ventures released a report dubbed 'Indonesia's Electric Vehicle Outlook: Supercharging Tomorrow's Mobility'. It projects up to a 10-percent increase in the country's electric motorbike market.

Today, the electric motorbike market only accounts for 0.2 percent of Indonesia's total motorcycle market. However, the report said there are indications that the market share can grow to more than 10 percent over the next five years.

Furthermore, the report projected the electric vehicle mobility market in Indonesia to have a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 58.5 percent until 2030. Electric vehicles, it said, can significantly reduce Indonesia's energy imports, which amount to Rp543 trillion per year.

The report also named several key factors to push the growth of Indonesia's EV sector, including pushing demand, government policies, and the development of new techs that improve performance and reduce overall costs.

The Indonesian government is focused on supporting the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, including electric motorbikes, as an effort to accelerate the transition from fuel-run vehicles to EV. Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and the CEO of Pertamina New and Renewable Energy Dannif Utojo Danusaputro are joining forces to provide this support.

"We are working with the Indonesian government, international organizations, key stakeholders in the electric vehicle ecosystem, as well as other associations, to reach more people and promote a positive campaign for electric vehicles," Dannif Utojo Danusaputro said in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, ANTARA reported.
