TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport's Immigration Office recorded that 371,993 Indonesians flew overseas during the 2023 Eid al-Adha holiday period. Based on the immigration office's passengers traffic data, the number of Indonesians traveling abroad increased in June 17 to 20, averaging between 16,000 and 17,000 people per day.
This is quite high compared to other days when departures are below 15,000 people per day. According to the airport's immigration office chief, Muhammad Tito Andrianto, the increased number of overseas travel was the result of the school holidays that coincided with the long holiday weekend for Eid al-Adha.
"The uptrend in departures is around 2-11 percent every day, while for the flow of arrivals for Indonesian citizens the increase is around 10 percent," Tito said on Wednesday, June 28.
As for the number of foreign travelers' traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport between June 15 and 18, Tito said there was an increase of 5 to 7 percent. "There was no significant change in the flow of foreigners leaving Indonesian territory," he said.
Foreigners who visited Indonesia during the Idul Adha and school holidays were mostly Chinese and Malaysian nationals with 26,211 and 18,519 arrivals respectively, followed by Singapore (14,171), Japan (11,027), and South Korea (9,746).
