Japan's Emperor Naruhito Visits North Jakarta's Pluit Reservoir

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Japan’s Emperor Naruhito visited made a number of visits to Jakarta on Sunday, one of the locations was the Pluit Reservoir Water Pump House located in North Jakarta. The reservoir is part of bilateral cooperation between the governments of Indonesia and Japan.
The Japanese government donated reservoir water pumps and also the restoration of buildings that had previously been damaged in 2012.
The Emperor's brief visit – which lasted roughly 20 minutes – was accompanied by North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana Hakim and was guarded by the President’s security detail (Paspampres), Armed Forces, and Police.
"I personally accompanied [Emperor Naruhito] myself, but he was greeted earlier by the Head of Water Resources Office, {government assistant) Aspem, and the Head of Drainage Flood Control," said Ali at the Pluit Dam on Sunday, June 18.

According to Ali, the Pluit reservoir was Naruhito’s only destination to North Jakarta and continued with other state agendas. Acting Jakarta governor Heru Budi Hartono was not present in Pluit but accompanied the Japanese Emperor on the visit to the MRT Jakarta depo in the area of Lebak Bulus.
Emperor Naruhito is visiting Indonesia from June 17 to June 23 in a bilateral visit aimed to strengthen ties between Japan and Indonesia.
