TEMPO.CO, BadungBali airport, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, implements a new regulation for air travel as Indonesia started the transition for the Covid-19 endemic. This is regulated in the Transportation Ministry Decree Number 16/2023 overseeing health protocol for air travelers during the transition period of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) endemic.

The issuance regulates a new health protocol for air travelers on domestic and international flights. “Since June 9, [we] implement the health protocol based on the Transportation Ministry Decree Number 16/2023, we’ve done coordination with all related parties for the implementation,” said Co-General Manager of state airport operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport, Ruly Artha in a written statement on Friday, June 16.

Domestic and international travelers are now permitted to put their masks off as long as they are in a healthy condition and are not at risk of Covid-19 transmission.

In addition, Covid-19 vaccination is no longer an obligation, yet rather a suggestion, especially to those with a high risk of transmitting Covid-19; they are suggested to get Covid vaccine until the second booster or the fourth dosage.

“We hope that the implementation of the new regulation will give positive improvement in the aviation sector and other related sectors as the regulation for air travelers is easier now", Ruly remarked.

In the past 5 months in 2023, Bali Airport served 7,817,242 passengers and continues to show improvement. Compared to the last 5 months in 2022, the number increased by 145 percent, which became the reference for the implementation of the new regulation based on the government's recommendation.
