Jokowi, Ganjar Pranowo, and State Ministers Discuss Borobudur in Jakarta Palace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo summoned Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo – who has been nominated as a future presidential candidate from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle — to the State Palace. The meeting is initially said to discuss the revitalization of Borobudur Temple along with a number of state ministers.
Ganjar was observed entering the state secretariat area through a different door compared to other state ministers who were invited to the limited meeting.
Those attending were Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Tourism, and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, and Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholis Qoumas.
When asked by journalists, Ganjar touched on matters related to Borobudur, which is considered one of the country’s national strategic projects. “[We discussed] improving Borobudur as it should be completed by 2024. The Maritime Affairs and Investments Minister talked about a single institution [to handle it] and the role of regional and central governments.”
Based on official statements, Ganjar Pranowo said discussions related to politics will always be present in his meetings with President Jokowi.
“Political discussions are always present in meetings with President Jokowi. There are always talks about that,” Ganjar elaborated on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
