TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia China (KCIC), the consortium responsible for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train (KCJB), continues to conduct diverse efforts ahead of the train operation in August 2023. Apart from improving infrastructure, the firm is preparing the certification process along with the Transportation Ministry.
KCIC Corporate Communication Manager Emir Monti said his side is focusing on conducting internal monitoring and evaluation of the testing and commissioning. With the comprehensive inspection train (CIT), all parameters of the train facilities and infrastructure can be detected during the testing process.
“At present, the speed of the inspection train on the KCJB line has exceeded 220 kilometers per hour. This is a new history for Indonesia’s railways which will soon have high-speed trains,” Emir said in a written statement on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
The tests are carried out periodically passing the routes of Tegalluar Station, Padalarang Station, Karawang Station, and Halim Station. The speed of the inspection train will also be increased in stages until reaching its technical peak speed of 385 kilometers per hour.
According to Emir, the testing is launched in parallel with the project contractor. Besides, KCIC keeps coordinating with the Transportation Ministry’s Directorate General of Railways to prepare the operation permit for the bullet train.
KCIC is holding a focus group discussion with KCJB contractors, the Transportation Ministry, and other related parties for three days in Bandung. “We and the Transportation Ministry are preparing the first test of the feasibility of Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train's facilities and infrastructure as part of the stages to obtain an operating permit. KCIC will comply and fully follow the regulations set by the Transportation Ministry,” Emir concluded.
