TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) responded to the plan of former Minister of Communication and Information (Kominfo) Johnny G. Plate to become a justice collaborator in the corruption case of Kominfo’s Bakti 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and supporting infrastructure projects.
AGO Head of Legal Information Center, I Ketut Sumedana, said his side has no problem with Plate’s plan. He suggested that Plate immediately submit the request to the Public Prosecutor (JPU).
“Just submit it to the Public Prosecutor, it will later be assessed and considered whether it is necessary to recommend to the Panel of Judges handling the case in order to obtain leniency,” Ketut said on Tuesday, June 13, 2023
Plate's lawyer, Achmad Cholidin confirmed that his client will immediately request to become a justice collaborator after the case is transferred to the Central Jakarta District Attorney's Office.
“Pak Johnny is ready to become a Justice Collaborator. Granted or not, it's the authority of the panel of judges. The requirements must be fulfilled first,” Cholidin told journalists on Monday, June 12, 2023.
Since the onset of the investigation process, Plate said he wants the case to be opened as widely as possible and hopes that investigators will be able to prosecute those involved in the case, which was estimated to cause a state financial loss of Rp8.03 trillion.
Cholidin also said Johnny G. Plate wants to reveal the people involved and tell the truth of the case in court. “We will disclose it as wide as possible, as clear as possible, on people who enjoy it [the corruption funds], people who commit it, people who use state money, and so on. We will see,” he said.
