Police: 'Polisi RW' to Become a National Program

16 May 2023 13:12 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Bandung - The National Police's Security Preservation Agency (Baharkam) Chief Commissioner General Fadil Imran announced that the police program at the neighborhood unit level dubbed 'Polisi RW' will become a national program aimed at anticipating crime in society.

Fadil made the statement when launching the program in Gedung Sate, Bandung, on Monday, May 15, 2023. He said Polisi RW will be stationed in every area and hoped to prevent disturbances to public security and order. The personnel will also cooperate with all elements.

“Polisi RW is tasked to solve issues on public security and order which can lead to crime, of course, in cooperation with elements of the community, and then analyze potential disturbances, starting from geography, demographics, and others,” Fadil said in his official statement.

Fadil initiated the program when he served as Jakarta Police Chief. The program has been running and is claimed to have many benefits. As a result, he was determined to make it to the national level.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, who led the launch ceremony, said Polisi RW could foster a sense of security and convenience for the community. He thanked the National Police for all their innovations and called on heads of the neighboring units in the province to contribute properly to security and orders along with the Polisi RW.
